The
Loire Valley/Château Country
offers a great variety of gardens, often in
connection with the famous châteaux.
Here you will also find the
International Parks,
Gardens and Landscape Conservatory (address:
Château farm, 41150 Chaumont-sur-Loire - Tel: (33)
2.54.20.99.22, Fax: (33) 2.54.20.99.24).
The Conservatory has its home in the 19th century model farm
next to the Château de Chaumont. A unique institution in
Europe, its activities include all areas of landscape
gardening. It is an international showcase for the cultural
policy of France's Centre region. It is also an important
meeting-point for landscape gardeners, especially during the
yearly Garden Festival (mid-June to mid-October).
Some of the Conservatory's objectives include the
dissemination of information and know-how, keeping abreast of
technical innovations, offering an elaborate training program
related to plants, as well as opening up projects to the
social, economic, technical and cultural context. These
objectives are aimed at students and those who attend training
seminars, technicians or those in charge of local
organizations, managers of large landscaping companies, public
works managers and amateur gardeners. Classes are held in the
recently refurbished farm buildings which also welcome
visitors.
Visit the
Park of Apremont,
