by masters such as Titian, Clouet, Raphaël...
tapestries from 17th century Flanders... Carrera marble...
painted panelling... rich furnishings: such is the decor of
the sumptuous Chateau de Cheverny. Located on the route of the
Valley of the Kings, this is a very fine example of 16th
century architecture. It houses a trophy room, paying homage
to a longstanding tradition of hunting, still celebrated here.

The fortified
castle of Sedan is the largest one in Europe with an area of
35 000m2, on 7 levels, 3 of them are above ground and 4 of
them underground, and sheltering up to 4000 men. Thanks to its
new interactive audio-guide system "Historium" you are now
able to enter History and live the great hours of the Princes
of Sedan. The audio-guide will take you, at your own pace, to
various scenes reconstructed in great detail that bring alive
the people in the Middle Ages under the Sedan Princedom.
You will therefore
experience various scenes from jumping to the cannon shooting
to attending Charlotte de La Marck's wedding. Also we have set
up a multimedia room (with an access for the disabled) that
will enable you to watch and listen to the Princes of Sedan's
lives.
Opening Hours:

Set alongside one
of the oldest vineyards in the Jura, the Chateau d'Arlay, a
former convent restored in the 18th century by the Countess of
Lauraguais, is the home of early 19th century furniture. The
park, built around the ruins of a medieval fortress, is worth
seeing for its lovely pathways, romantic copses and birds of
prey in the wild. The "Jardin des Jeux", created in 1996,
recalls the spirit of the "divertimentos" of the end of the
18th century and presents a harmonious assembly of flowers,
fruit and vegetables.

01 65 Grignan, Montélimar, Suze-la-Rousse... in close
proximity to one another, the most beautiful Chateaux of provençal Drôme. The
Chateau de Grignan (12th to 17th
centuries) is one of the greatest Renaissance Chateaux
in Southeast France. The presence of Madame de Sévigné
and the important place which this Chateau holds in her
Letters, the power of count François de Castellane
Adhémar de Monteil, viceroy of Provence from 1669 to
1714, make it a Mecca for regional history. The Chateau
des Adhémar in Montélimar (11th to 16th centuries) is
one of the most important examples of medieval
architecture in the central Rhône valley, with a 12th
century dressing room of exceptional decor. The Chateau
de Suze-la-Rousse (12th to 17th centuries) is a medieval
fortress with a magnificent arcaded Italian-style
courtyard added during the Renaissance period.
Today it is the home of the
Université du Vin.
